Atlantic City Hotels

This is not your father’s Atlantic City.   AC is much nicer than it used to be.  Both the quality and quantity of hotel rooms has improved significantly in recent years.  Several years ago, staying in Atlantic City meant sleeping in a smoky, pitiful, run-down hotel room. The arrival of the Borgata has changed everything in AC . Tropicana opened a newer and larger tower that offers much nicer hotel rooms than most AC casinos. Resorts did the same thing, and now boasts the “largest hotel rooms in Atlantic City.” Even the Trump hotels (Trump Plaza, Trump Taj Mahal, and Trump Marina) are planning new towers and hotel-room upgrades, so they can keep up with their competitor casinos.

In addition to improving the hotels, they re-did the beach as well.  the city trucked in massive amounts of sand, which has made a significant improvement in the beach.    Remember the pier? It’s been totally redesigned and renovated. Now, there are upscale places to eat and drink, as well as an upgraded slate of stores.    It’s no longer just a place to buy a seashell and a t-shirt.  During the summer, there are a couple of beach bars that are available as well.

Choosing a hotel in Atlantic City is not just a matter of price. You have to take into account the value you get for your how much you spend. Here is our view of the top places to stay in Atlantic City based on the value of the rooms and experience:

Money is no object: Borgata, Caesar’s (renovated room), Tropicana (new tower), or Resorts (new tower)

Best room & service for the money: Caesar’s

Largest hotel rooms: Resorts new tower

Best casino (high stakes): Borgata

Best casino (low stakes): Showboat

Don’t waste your money: Don’t even think about Bally’s, Claridge, or Caesar’s old tower.

There are several ways to get to AC. Driving, riding a coach are good options  , or take one of the trains , but if you are thinking about having a bachelor party in Atlantic City, your best bet is to rent the Party Shuttle.  OnBoard can take your group to Atlantic City from Philadelphia, New York City, Washington DC or anywhere in between.
